The federal government shutdown has entered its second day with no resolution in sight. Lawmakers failed to pass two funding bills and are not expected back on Capitol Hill until Friday afternoon, Oct. 3, 2025, due to the Yom Kippur holiday. That means the earliest chance for a vote will be Wednesday — and if no deal is reached then, lawmakers could work through the weekend.
