John Aubrey , who served as sheriff in Jefferson County for more than 25 years until his death Sept. 23, will be remembered by members of the Louisville community Oct. 2 at Southeast Christian Church.
The Courier Journal will livestream services for Aubrey beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Aubrey was the county's longest-serving sheriff after first taking office in 1999. Before he was first elected as sheriff, Aubrey spent 28 years with Louisville Metro Police and was in the Army Reserves for 32 years.
Attendees from the National Sheriffs' Association and the Kentucky Sheriffs' Association are among those expected. The National Sheriff's Association, an organization Aubrey led in 2014-15 , named him as 2025's sheriff of the year.
