An Apple iPhone super upgrade cycle is only a matter of when, and not if, going by two devastatingly simple facts - courtesy of CLSA analyst Bhavtosh Vajpayee - that clearly delineate the ageing iPhone installed base and the associated incentive to upgrade to a newer device.
Fact # 1: Around 150 Million iPhones Around The World Can't Upgrade To The Latest iOS Version
Apple's latest iOS 26 is not compatible with iPhone XS and XR , which excludes around 150 million devices - equivalent to around 10 percent of the iPhone userbase - from the Cupertino giant's latest software-based bells and whistles.
A given iPhone is now, on average, a whopping 6.5 years old, which is substantially long in the tooth, and bolsters the case for an imminent upgrade super cycle.
