This was the only quarterfinal match where both favorites from their respective sections of the draw met, and it lived up to expectations. The American had won their only previous encounter back in Parma 2021—though that was on clay-courts and both players were in a very different place in their careers than they are now as two established Top 10 players on the Tour.
