CONCORD, N.C. (WBTV) - NASCAR driver Erik Jones teamed up with more than 100 breast cancer survivors and supporters for a special event ahead of this weekend’s playoff race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Jones -- driver of the famed No. 43 car -- the survivors and supporters on Tuesday, Sept. 30 to paint the pit road wall pink ahead of Sunday’s Bank of America ROVAL 400.

Fellow drivers Ross Chastain, Noah Gragson and Cole Custer also participated in the painting.

The event came as October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, was just about to get underway. In addition to painting the pit wall, there were also speakers who addressed the survivors and supporters, and participants got a chance to write messages of encouragement and remembrance on the pit wall.
