The Donald Trump administration is turning the U.S. into "a rotting and desiccating mess," according to a former GOP insider.

Political strategist Steve Schmidt, an independent political strategist who worked on former President George W. Bush's campaign, said on Thursday that the U.S. is "sick" due to Trump, JD Vance, Jared Kushner, as well as Democrat Hakeem Jeffries.

"Hakeem Jeffries has found himself in a position of power and influence in a moment of grave national crisis. He has failed to meet the moment. He has chosen delusion and fantasy over reality," Schmidt wrote before turning on the GOP lawmakers. "They are a cowed, capitulant, submissive Politburo of extremists, fools, weirdos, predators, knaves, moral cowards and sunshine patriots. They have betrayed their constitutional oaths for seats on Predator Patio, or to avoid mean tweets by the malignant fascist run amok in his pimpified Oval Office."

According to Schmidt, the vice president is also guilty.

"JD Vance isn’t just dishonest; he is pathological. His lying is ceaseless," Schmidt wrote before elaborating on the state of the country.

"All of this is deeply dangerous. It seems that the savage side of the human heart is beating more loudly in America than the patriotic and loving side. Ten years of Trump have taken their toll," he wrote. "Our country is very different from what it was not so long ago. Once, we were a great nation. Today, we are a very sick one. America is a rotting and desiccating mess. It is beset by low and corrupt men and women given power by apathetic people, dulled and idiotized by a thousand forces, rubbing down their ability to function as free citizens in a free nation."

He then pointed to Kushner's recent acquisition of EA as a potential warning sign.

"Too many have given away too much to too many people who would take everything from everyone if they could for no reason other than a lust for a little more. How else can one explain the indifference to this latest ghastly corruption involving Jared Kushner and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF)?" the analyst asked. "Trump sees all this, and he keeps rolling forward. He sees that there is nothing to stop him."
