Dussehra was celebrated across the country on Thursday. President Droupadi Murmu attended the Lav Kush Ramleela organised by Shri Dharmik Leela Samiti at the Red Fort in Delhi. She shot arrows to burn the effigy of Ravana. People attending the Ramleela stood under chairs, hoardings, and sheets to protect themselves from the rain.
Effigies of Ravana were burned in several states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand. In Patna, Bihar, the tallest Ravana effigy in the state, standing 80 feet high, was burnt at Gandhi Maidan. Due to rain, the head of the effigy had broken.
