Bhubaneswar: Train services were disrupted on Rayagada-Visakhapatnam section as large boulders and mud damaged railway tracks following a landslide, triggered by heavy rain, on Thursday.
According to sources, the landslide occurred near Goddess Majhighariani temple in Odisha’s Rayagada district, leading to a breach in the rail tracks. Rayagada Divisional Railway Manager Amitabh Singhal along with other senior railway officials are at the site, supervising the repair of the damaged tracks. ADVERTISEMENT
In Koraput, large boulders obstructed the railway line between Dumuriput and Damanjodi. A tree was uprooted and fell onto high-voltage electric wires between Tyda and Chimidipalli on the Visakhapatnam-Koraput rail section, further impacting rail operations.
