A Des Moines teenager missing for more than two months has been found safe — less than a day after her case was featured in a statewide billboard campaign .

Des Moines police said in a Thursday, Oct. 2 news release that Alexis Fuller, 17, was located overnight and is “healthy and safe.” Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of her disappearance, spokesperson Sgt. Paul Parizek said in the release.

Additional details were not immediately released.

The update came less than 24 hours after the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children began featuring Alexis’s photo on digital gas station screens across Iowa to generate leads. The organization planned to feature her case throughout October.
