A funding agreement between the Scottish Government and Aberdeen City Council has been reached to allow the local authority to meet the costs associated with addressing RAAC-affected properties .

Housing Secretary Màiri McAllan has confirmed the government will accelerate planned affordable house-building developments through the Affordable Homes Supply Programme to the city council

The move will enable the council to free up £10million which can be used to support residents and homeowners in Balnagask affected by the collapse-prone concrete.

Reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) was identified in more than 500 council and private properties in 2022 - the majority council-owned - with homes evacuated the following year.
