The Union Government has released an additional ₹1,01,603 crore to states as an advance instalment of tax devolution, aimed at boosting capital expenditure and welfare spending ahead of the festive season.
Of this, Northeast India has received a total of ₹8,274 crore, with Meghalaya allocated ₹779 crore.
The Finance Ministry stated that this release is over and above the normal monthly devolution, which is scheduled for October 10. The move is expected to help states to accelerate infrastructure projects, meet welfare commitments, and address seasonal financial pressures during Durga Puja, Diwali, and other upcoming festivals.
