CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office shared an update this week after a months-long investigation into a missing person ended tragically.

A Silver Alert was canceled for James Graves of Crossville, Tennessee, after his remains were discovered. He was 84.

“On September 24, 2025, skeletal remains believed to be Mr. Graves were discovered in a remote wooded area in the Luminary Mountain region of Bledsoe County,” a post from the sheriff’s office said . “Following recovery efforts, the Tennessee Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville has positively identified Mr. Graves through dental records.”

The sheriff’s office said they also located his truck. According to CCSO, the 84-year-old was first reported missing in April.
