Fashion week often serves up unlikely outfit pairings, and the latest curveball two-piece look to emerge from Paris is Lake District up top, honeymoon lingerie on the bottom. At the Saint Laurent show, Zoë Kravitz, Hailey Bieber and Charli xcx wore technical jackets with lace-trim shorts and silken skirts – an unlikely mash-up of hiking wear and pyjamas that somehow worked for the front row in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower.

Kravitz’s ensemble, for example, featured a funnel-neck beige shell jacket (fully fastened and zipped as if she’s about to enter a storm), with a lemon-hued slip dress with a delicate lace trim hem. Gore-Tex and silk is no doubt a strange double act, but it’s certainly one way to put a daytime spin on eveningwear and tone down the raciness of a barely-there negligee
