**Body Found in Search for Missing British Tourist** The search for Denis Kopanev, a British tourist who disappeared in Brazil nearly four months ago, has culminated in the discovery of a body. The 33-year-old financial analyst from London was last seen on CCTV leaving his rented apartment in the Gávea neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro in early June. Authorities, including the Metropolitan Police and Brazilian officials, initiated a significant manhunt after Denis was reported missing. His passport and personal belongings were found untouched at his Airbnb, raising concerns about his safety. On Tuesday, after a meticulous 115-day search, detectives from Rio’s Missing Persons Unit recovered a body in Tijuca National Park. The area is known for its challenging terrain, featuring cliffs and streams, which complicated the search efforts. Alongside the body, Denis's wallet, credit card, and other personal items were also located at the scene. Denis was last seen on June 9, when he was expected to meet a friend at the Vista Chinesa lookout point. He had plans to travel to São Paulo the following day to meet an American friend and visit the volcanic archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, located about 215 miles off Brazil's northeastern coast. The alarm was raised when Denis failed to communicate with his close friend, Pedro Campos, who reported that Denis had stopped sending updates about his travels. "He messaged me, very excited about things he had done during the Brazil trip and excited about all the things that he was going to do during the trip," Pedro stated. Denis's mother, Olga, expressed her anguish during the search, saying, "There are no words to describe the feelings of despair, anxiety, fear, concern - and hope - that parents feel at this moment in their life." She described her son as a caring individual with a passion for travel, sports, music, and reading. His best friend, Benone Moura, remarked that Denis's disappearance was "out of character," noting that he always kept loved ones informed during his travels.
