Poilievre says Carney’s trips only result in higher tariffs for Canada

Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre on Thursday took a swipe at Prime Minister Mark Carney’s dealings on tariffs saying, “everywhere Mark Carney goes, we get hit with higher tariffs.” Poilievre says media reports stating he was criticizing Carney’s travels were wrong — and he was actually criticizing the results. “(Carney) goes to Washington, gets wonderful, gushing media coverage. What’s the result? The Americans double tariffs on Canada. He goes to Europe — twice to the U.K. —and what do they do? Lock in the blockade against Canadian beef production,” Poilievre said.
