WILLISTON — A year after wildfires scorched 120,000 acres and knocked out power to thousands, Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative is receiving nearly $3 million in federal aid to help in recovery costs.
According to U.S. Sen. Kevin Cramer's office, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) approved $2,860,827 for "repairs due to wildfires and straight-line winds on Oct. 5-6, 2024." The funding represents 70 percent of the estimated $4 million in damages, said cooperative general manager Alex Vournas. kAmQq6:?8 2 ?@E\7@C\AC@7:E 4@@A6C2E:G6[ E92E 6G6?EF2==J 96=AD @77D6E 4@DED E@ @FC >6>36CD[Q 96 D2:5] QxE C62==J 8@6D E@H2C5 >:E:82E:?8 E96 :>A24ED 7C@> E96 5:D2DE6C]Qk^Am kAm$E2E6 2:5[ H9:49 EJA:42==J 4@G6CD 2?@E96C `_ A6C46?E @7 5:D2DE6C 4@DED[ 92D ?@E J6E 366? 56E6C>:?65] k^Am
