INDIANAPOLIS – As the media surrounded Spencer Shrader’s cubicle Thursday afternoon, his long-snapper offered an appropriate backdrop.

“There he is,’’ Luke Rhodes said. “Player of the Month.’’

Yes, AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for the Indianapolis Colts’ kicker.

“It’s been a blessing,’’ Shrader said. “It’s been a lot of fun.’’

As it turned out, Rhodes and holder/punter Rigoberto Sanchez knew of the honor before Shrader.

“Their reaction was awesome,’’ he said. “They’re just so excited and so happy.

“It made me feel good to bring those guys joy, and from that circle on to the team as a whole.’’
