A person who was reported missing was found dead Wednesday afternoon on the shoreline of a harbor on Nantucket.

The person, who has only been identified by the Nantucket Police Department as a male, was reported missing by his family at 2:58 p.m. on Oct. 1, according to police.

The family said he’d left the house that morning to check on a boat that was moored in Polpis Harbor, and he had not been heard from since.

He was found dead that afternoon by investigators on the shoreline of the harbor, along with a paddle board, police said.

Officials do not believe his death to be suspicious at this time, police said.

The case is under investigation by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the identity of the person will be released pending full family notifications, police said.
