Jets running back Braelon Allen will officially be out of the lineup.
On Thursday morning, Gang Green placed Allen on injured reserve, which means he will miss at least the Jets’ next four games, starting with the Cowboys this Sunday. In a corresponding move, the team signed Khalil Herbert , who was recently on the Seahawks practice squad.
Allen suffered a knee injury during the second quarter of the Jets’ 27-21 loss to the Dolphins on Monday night and was quickly ruled out. Allen injured his knee on a kickoff return and after staying down on the turf for a few minutes had to be helped to the sideline by trainers.
Against Miami, Allen rushed for 26 yards on four carries before he was injured. He also had a costly fumble on the Jets’ first drive that prevented them from scoring. I
