Northern Ohio franchised dealers sold 18,957 new motor vehicles in August, a slight decrease compared to the same month last year.
Sales in the region were off by 0.79% last month according to figures released by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association, while year to date numbers remain ahead, beating 2024 by 7.09%.
“Northern Ohio August sales matched 2024, leaving the market at just over 7% ahead through 2025,” said Louis A. Vitantonio, the association’s president. “We have outpaced the nation to date, but feel that in the second half of the year — especially the last quarter — the pace will slow.
“Lower interest rates could carry sales higher through the third and fourth quarters if there is a change. All in all, we still anticipate single digit growth in new car sales t
