Dear Care and Feeding,

I’m a single mom with three teenage daughters, and I’ve been seeing someone for several months now. We’ve been taking things slow, but we’ve reached a point where we’d really like to introduce him to my girls and meet each other’s families. But there’s something in my family’s past that makes this really tricky for me.

As a young teenager, my mom was sexually assaulted by her stepfather. She was able to get her hands on a weapon and fight him off, and my grandma kicked him out at gunpoint.
