WASHINGTON (KLFY) -- A Louisiana congressman is under fire for potential insider trading, according to reports.

President Donald Trump last week signed an executive order giving technology giant Oracle a leading role in TikTok’s pending U.S. spinoff from Chinese company ByteDance.

Just days before that, Rep. Cleo Fields (D-Baton Rouge) bought a large amount of Oracle stock, according to a report by the news website NOTUS.

A congressional financial disclosure reviewed by NOTUS indicates Fields purchased between $80,000 and $200,000 worth of Oracle shares across three different trades — on Sept. 17, 18 and 23. News of Oracle’s participation in the TikTok deal first broke on Sept. 22.

It is unclear if Fields knew about Oracle’s participation in the TikTok deal.
