FLUSHING, MI - As the Grand Blanc Township mass killing continues to reverberate through the region, a local pastor is urging congregations to reevaluate security measures on Sunday mornings.

Rev. Paul Pfeuffer of Flushing Presbyterian Church, who helped lead Wednesday’s vigil at Flushing United Methodist Church, said the tragedy underscores the need for both spiritual support and practical safety precautions.

“I think we tend to nitpick over theological disagreements and when you’ve got a tragedy like the one in Grand Blanc, it’s absolutely necessary for us to come together as a community,” Pfeuffer told MLive-The Flint Journal.

He acknowledged that people are searching for comfort in the aftermath of such attacks.
