Police officers shot a man, leaving him with serious injuries, during an incident in south Phoenix, officials reported on social media platform X.com, formerly Twitter.

The shooting, which happened around 8 a.m. Oct. 2 near 7th Street and Sunland Avenue, comes a day after Police Chief Matt Giordano released a public statement addressing recent shootings by officers.

The man was taken to a hospital with "serious injuries." No officers were injured.

Police did not release any further details about the shooting. Residents were asked to stay away from the area.
