A packaging supply company will fold two of its Lehigh County locations and lay off 60 workers by the end of the year, according to Pennsylvania’s Department of Labor and Industry .
The 60 cuts are supposed to go into effect Dec. 1 at Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) , 7451 and 7620 Cetronia Road, in Upper Macungie Township. The confirmed amount of employees was announced Wednesday in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act Notice (WARN) by the Department of Labor.
The notice is mandated by U.S. labor law and requires companies with 100 or more employees to provide 60 days’ advance notification of plant closings and mass layoffs.
Representatives of PCA couldn’t immediately be reached for comment Thursday afternoon.
Lake Forest, Illinois-based PCA operates eight mills and 86 c
