SPOKANE, Wash. — Fairchild Air Force Base said on Wednesday that it anticipates some closures and reduced services amid the government shutdown .
Thursday is day two of the shutdown, and President Donald Trump has seized the shutdown as an opportunity to reshape the federal workforce and punish detractors by threatening mass firings of workers and suggesting “irreversible” cuts to programs.
In Spokane, Fairchild AFB told KREM 2 News that its Active-Duty personnel will continue working, but some civilian employees will face furloughs.
