AGAWAM, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - The state has stepped in to help students and teachers in Agawam with funding for their elementary schools.

On Thursday, State Senator John Velis presented Agawam officials with a check for $125,000. The money was secured from the state’s ‘Fair Share Supplemental Budget’ to help the district with capital improvements.

Specifically, Agawam Public School Superintendent Sheila Martin told Western Mass News that it will be used towards the design of news roofs for the town’s four elementary schools. “Our facilities are really important to maintain continuous learning in our schools so, without good facilities that aren’t well maintained, it’s really hard to have our teaching and learning go on without disruption,” she explained.
