HELENA — Spencer Lehnerz wore jersey No. 5 playing high school basketball because it fit best, the smallest size for his 5-foot-9 and at the time, roughly 150-pound frame. He once scored 44 points in that number.

Last weekend Lehnerz carried No. 5, this time red and yellow signifying MSU-Northern pride, twice into the end zone, for the first two collegiate touchdowns of the Lights senior cornerback’s career.

Back-to-back scores separated by four plays, the 20- and 42-yard pick-sixes (15- & 25-yard TDs officially) created distance Northern desired against Eastern Oregon to snap a four-game losing streak and win for the third time in four seasons under head coach Jerome Souers.
