Addressing a gap on the Three Rivers Heritage Trail is now a “top priority” for Pennsylvania.

The gap between Millvale, Shaler and Etna has been added to the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ “Top 10 Trail Gaps List,” a designation made for “top priority trail projects,” Gov. Josh Shapiro’s administration recently announced.

Those on the list were identified to “further emphasize the need to close gaps,” and must meet certain criteria, including costing at least $1 million and being no longer than 5 miles, according to the state’s land and water trail strategic plan. Potential gaps are identified based on existing Priority Trail Gap data, and new gaps are added as others are closed.
