JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - A 49-year-old is accused of stabbing his 73-year-old father to death on Thursday afternoon, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

The crime happened in the St. Andrews community.

Detectives with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department believe Gerald J. Tooker stabbed his father, Gerald F. Tooker, then took off and broke into a neighbor’s house.

Deputies responded after the neighbor called officials about the home invasion on Main Street.

Deputies said the suspect had already left the neighbor’s house when they arrived on the scene. Deputies then went to the suspect’s house and found the victim.

According to authorities, Gerald J. Tooker will be charged with first-degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing.
