CAMERON PARISH, La. (KPLC) - A Texas man is facing charges after Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries agents seized thousands of pounds of shrimp in Cameron Parish.
On Sept. 29, LDWF agents were patrolling in the Gulf when they saw a boat actively shrimping.
During a license inspection, agents learned the boat’s driver, 63-year-old Michae Le of Palacios, Texas, did not have a vessel license, LDWF said.
Authorities seized 5,000 lbs. of shrimp and sold them at the dock to the highest bidder, LDWF said.
Le was cited for taking commercial fish without a vessel license. The citation carries a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail.
