In the days leading up to the East Noble Regional last Friday, when DeKalb would claim its first regional title since 2009, Barons coach James Fislar was feeling pretty confident.
"In our practice round, we were playing really, really good, had a really good feel for the greens, so I knew it was probably going to be a good day," Fislar said. "Technically, it was probably the best I've seen them putt – and we made a lot of putts (in the regional). There were a lot of birdies."
The Barons, who were ranked 16th in the final coaches poll, combined for 12 birdies at the regional at Noble Hawk, plus an eagle by Ellington Sparkman on the par-5 13th.
