Meta, parent company of Facebook and Instagram, recently announced plans to use artificial intelligence chatbot conversation data to target customers with personalized ads and content.
In a blog post announcing the change, Meta gave a few examples on how your interactions with its AI features may shape the advertisements and content you see.
For example, a user may use a Meta AI chatbot to talk about hiking.
" As a result, you might start seeing recommendations for hiking groups, posts from friends about trails, or ads for hiking boots," Meta wrote.
The tech giant said that topics pertaining to religion, politics, racial or ethnic origin and health will not be used in ad targeting.
