STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A new high school that would provide more than 800 seats for students has been proposed for Staten Island.
A new facility serving students in ninth through 12th grade would bring approximately 801 seats to St. George, with spots allocated for special education students in District 75, according to documents from the New York City School Construction Authority.
The approximately 46,096-square-foot proposed site would be located at 25 Wall St., on the north side of Wall Street, between Academy Place and Stuyvesant Place. The site is currently occupied by a paved parking lot.
The proposed site would be acquired by the SCA, on behalf of the city Department of Education.
According to the proposal, the school would open to students by 2030.
