HURON – An intersection in Winchelsea that has residents concerned about safety has drawn the attention of county council.

Councillors passed a motion during their Oct. 1 meeting directing county staff to prepare a report on the intersection and return to council with options in response to a letter from Winchelsea residents Dan Walters and Jo-Ann Middleton that was included as part of the meeting’s agenda.

The intersection of Hern Line and Kirkton Road has been a point of concern for some time, and the county added a 70-kilometre-per-hour zone and a 50 km/h zone to try to quell concerns about speeding.

But Middleton and Walters wrote those changes hadn’t resulted in slower speeds near the intersection.
