TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - A federal judge in Tallahassee has sided with the Escambia County School Board in removing a book from its school libraries.
The school board removed a children’s book called “And Tango Makes Three” from its school libraries. The book follows two male penguins who adopt and raise Tango, a penguin chick.
The school board removed the book because it disagreed with its viewpoint.
The book’s co-authors and an elementary school student sued the school board, saying it violated the First Amendment.
The judge dismissed the case, deciding that school boards have the authority to decide which books are in their libraries and that removing the book does not violate the First Amendment.
