BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Security has been heightened at at least two Jewish temples during the high holiday of Yom Kippur.

It comes after two people are dead and four others hurt during an attack at a synagogue in Manchester, England.

Police officers were posted outside Ohavi Zedek Synagogue and Temple Sinai in Burlington on Thursday.

Officials at Ohavi Zedek said it’s become common for them to hire extra security because of the concerns of violence related to Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel and Israel’s ensuing military campaign in Gaza.
