The Cornwall police service board approved its 2026 budget on Thursday, and it comes with a 9.87 per cent or $2,564,528 increase over the 2025 budget.
Chief Shawna Spowart told the board that the 2026 CPS budget , which is the largest that has been presented to the board in years at a total of $30,224,528 (net $26,503,510), was whittled down from a draft version that had an increase closer to 14 per cent. She said the budget largely focuses on needs for the organization rather than wants.
