The alligator seen and captured at Belle Isle is about 1.5 feet long and 2 years old, according to serpentarium co-owner Michael Wilson.
The alligator's name is Fáfnir after Norse mythology. She was named by one of the people who caught her on Belle Isle on Oct. 1.
Fáfnir is an American alligator, Wilson said. She might grow up to 8 feet and could live around 70 years.
Wilson said he's almost entirely sure Fáfnir was previously a pet who had been released at Belle Isle.

The approximately 1.5-foot-long American alligator first seen on Belle Isle on Sept. 26 was captured by Steve Hart and Troy Keteyian on Oct. 1 . She will now live with a number of alligators, snakes, turtle
