OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Mayor John Ewing Jr. is planning to hold a news conference Thursday afternoon about Bud Crawford’s traffic stop.

Ewing’s office says he plans to address the issues raised by the incident and talk about how the community can move forward.

“He cannot speak to the current Omaha Police Department internal affairs investigation,” Thursday’s news release states.

The record-setting boxing champion was pulled over the morning after his celebratory parade on Saturday. Omaha Police said the traffic stop happened at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in the area of 12th Street and Capitol Avenue after officers reported the car was driving recklessly.
