Calgary police are asking for witness information related to two separate assaults involving women in the downtown area, both of which have been identified as hate-motivated.
The first incident occurred on July 11 along 8 Avenue SE, near the northbound Macleod Trail. A woman walking in the area was approached by a man who made inappropriate remarks.
Despite his request to stop, the situation escalated when he began issuing threats. A nearby witness intervened, helping the woman move away from the man.
The incident was later reported to the police.
The second alleged assault took place on July 24 near 8 Avenue and 4 Street SE. A woman walking from her vehicle was confronted by a man who allegedly charged at her while shouting racial comments.
