BARRE, Vt. —

A permanent substitute teacher in Vermont was cited after cocaine was found in her possession at a school, police said.

Barre Town, Vermont police said on Wednesday around 10:50 a.m., they were called to Barre Town Middle & Elementary School for a woman reported to be under the influence.

The 47-year-old woman is a permanent substitute teacher at the school, police said. The incident was reported to school staff after a student noticed the woman's unusual behavior.

The woman admitted to school administration that she had cocaine in her jacket pocket, which was in the classroom she was teaching in, police said.
