ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A High Point man will spend the rest of his life in prison after a jury convicted him of first-degree murder in a 2021 Burlington shooting.

Isaac Jermaine Weathersby IV, 24, was found guilty in Alamance County Superior Court of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon, District Attorney Sean Boone announced Thursday. Following the seven-day trial, Judge Craig Croom sentenced Weathersby to life in prison without parole, in addition to an active sentence for the firearms conviction.

Prosecutors said Weathersby shot and killed William Gene Williams III, 25, in January 2021 at Williams’ home on Durham Street Extension in Burlington. The defendant fled in a vehicle driven by a co-defendant, sparking a police chase through Elon. Officers from multiple
