The B.C. Conservative Caucus fired communication staffer Lindsay Shepherd on Wednesday for a post she put on social media calling the orange reconciliation flag a "disgrace."
"It is a disgrace that this fake flag flies in front of the provincial parliament buildings," she wrote on the platform X.
On Thursday (Oct. 2), Shepherd was back on social media to "tell her side of the story." This included releasing the taped audio of her being fired by the caucus's human resources staff.
"Your tweet has caused significant issues across the province, whether done intentionally or not," Shepherd was informed on the tape. "This is not the behaviour that is expected from staff. And [Conservative Leader] John Rustad has made the decision that we have to let you go, effective immediately."
