RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Bond was denied Thursday for James Hargrave, the man accused in a deadly hit-and-run that killed an 11-year-old in Richland County.
The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday on Bluff Road near the intersection with Blackberry Road, according to Master Trooper William Bennett with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford confirmed the victim as Travis Kelley of Gadsden.
Investigators say 55-year-old Hargrave struck the child with his vehicle and left the scene. He was later located and arrested. Hargrave is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
