BUXTON, N.C. (WITN) - Cleanup work will begin tomorrow in Buxton after seven homes were destroyed by high surf from Hurricane Imelda.

The latest casualty happened around 8 p.m. last night on Tower Circle.

Tax records show the 4-bedroom oceanfront home sold two summers ago for $812,500.

The National Park Service says five homes in Buxton collapsed between 2 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, and then another home fell into the ocean around 11 p.m. that same day.

NPS says some 24 workers will go to the area on Friday to clean up debris from the collapse sites.

All residents and visitors should stay off the shoreline due to hazardous debris left behind, according to a news release.

No injuries were reported in any of the collapses.
