GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested two men Wednesday night after a search during a traffic stop at the 7400 block of NW 39th Ave in Gainesville.

The driver of the vehicle, David Stillwell, 50, was driving with a suspended driver’s license and showed “various nervous behaviors” according to deputies.

The sole passenger, Benjamin Owen, 49, first provided false information to deputies before voluntarily identifying himself with his driver’s license.

Stillwater admitted to having a firearm in the vehicle, but would consent to a search of his vehicle.

However, a K9 arrived on scene and performed an open-air sniff of the vehicle, giving a positive alert to deputies of the odor of narcotics. This allowed deputies probable cause to search the vehicle.
