TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - More than one billion dollars in federal funding was officially cut for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The cuts affect organizations like NPR, PBS and, locally, Arizona Public Media.

“It is the first day since 1967 that there’s been no federal funding for public media. So, it’s quite a monumentally sad day,” Arizona Public Media Chief Operating Officer Gene Robinson said.

Arizona Public Media has been a staple in Tucson for decades, becoming a regular part of routines for residents like Marilyn Lindell.

“I’ve been listening to NPR and watching PBS for years. I donated when I was working for the University of Arizona, still, and I just thought it would be a great experience,” Lindell said.
