Winter weather is slated to bring some equilibrium to Billings’ unseasonably warm start to fall.

Starting Friday night, a weather system is expected to bring colder temperatures and precipitation to the entire region, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service, with the state’s Department of Transportation announcing the closure of the Beartooth Pass in anticipation of heavy snowfall.

Temperatures in some areas of south-central Montana could drop below freezing as soon as Sunday, NWS Meteorologist Logan Torgerson said, with towns like Livingston and Sheridan, Wyoming, almost certain to have freezing temperatures by Monday. Highs in Billings are expected to go from 77 degrees Friday to 52 degrees on Sunday.
