EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – A 52-year-old Edwardsville man is in custody amid an investigation into the distribution of child pornography.

According to the City of Edwardsville and Madison County Circuit Court documents, the investigation began on Sept. 23 after local authorities received information from the Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Investigators determined some of the material depicted children under the age of 18 and, in some cases, under the age of 13.

Police traced the illicit material to David M. Williams.

On Thursday, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Williams with seven counts of child pornography.
